In Response To: Marathon Rubicon (Marathoner325)

: In Marathon Rubicon it starts off in the swamps of Lh'owon and you wake up in
: a stasis tank fifty years later to tip the scales of the war between the
: Pfhor and UESC. Is it just me, or does that not seem to match up with the
: events of Marathon Infinity? Think about it. After Marathon 2 the
: Wrkacnter get released and you have to stop them, while in Rubicon istead
: of that you have to fight in the war to tip the scales. And right after
: Infinity is the events of Marathon "Eternal". I might be wrong
: since I've made very little progress in both Eternal and Rubicon.

Rubicon X's first level is a prologue that was not present in the original Rubicon. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a dream or what, but... I'm pretty sure it's not Lh'owon.

Rubicon almost completely ignores the events of Marathon Infinity; it's more of a sequel to Marathon 2, except the W'rkncacnter never got loose and destroyed the universe (which is Mark Levin's interpretation of what happens in Infinity; things go back to the end of M2, but the W'rkncacnter is contained. I strongly disagree and believe that Infinity ends in an alternate timeline from M2). From what I understand, Blayne's scenario "Where Monsters Are In Dreams" is meant to be a sequel to Infinity and a prequel to Rubicon, helping to explain why things in Rubicon don't seem like you would expect them to be for a sequel to Infinity.

Also, Eternal and Rubicon and WMAID are all non-canon and so don't technically have to mesh with each other at all, although I've written Eternal specifically trying not to step on any other scenarios' toes, and all us old-timey Marathon people know each other and have talked to each other about our various story ideas (e.g I was a part of the very early Rubicon team, before it was even called Rubicon, and Blayne and I have discussed each others' scenarios' plots extensively), so things fortuitously all sort of click together nicely most of the time. But don't expect it to make sense; just feel fortunate that it usually does. Mostly.
