There are four different switches that open four doors blocking your way to the second half of the level. I just tested the level with Forge. It shouldn't matter whether you hit any of the switches twice. Each door will still rise. So my guess is that you have not hit all four switches yet.

However, there are a total of five switches that are available to the player in the first part of the level. One of those switches raises a door in a narrow elevated corridor that you need to get past. This is not one of the four switches though. That switch has to be hit in order to access two of the other four switches mentioned.

So if you have not hit five switches yet, then you need to look for the rest. One of those switches is somewhat hard to find. If you have problems, let me know and I will give you a hint.
