http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beowulf_%281999_film%29 - This one, starring Christopher Lambert is a "sci-fi" mix of Beowulf. If i remember correctly, it generally sucked. :P (this is probably the one you are talking about, although i'm not sure)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beowulf_%26_Grendel - this one, although named Beowulf & Grendel, was filmed here in iceland, starring Gerard Butler (300), but got mediocre reviews but critics did praise the movie for various thing and I'm pretty sure this one is the one closest to the original poem, Beowulf.
