(1) I'm pretty sure every area you're capable of reaching in the original is reachable. I recall doing Arrival a few days ago (on release day), and was able to get to all of the terminals in the level. In a lot of circumstances, dodging and jumping means a lot more mobility options.

(2) Some of the shield chargers are a little finicky. If you're having trouble using a shield charger, try stepping back to the very edge of its activation zone and attempting to activate it. I've found this works pretty reliably.

(3) I'd probably recommend you play in OS9 if you can, you'll get better performance that way.
