: This may seem like a stupid thing to post, but I'm trying to guage what the
: community would want in terms of performance with Marathon INFESTED. Being
: 3D, I can make it work good-great on a later model G3, or I could make
: it's minimum be a G4, it's all in the optimizations. But I need to know
: how many marathon-ers are still using G3s.
Even a G4 minimum (bear in mind newer G3s are generally faster than G4s if you're not using altivec, which I doubt you're doing) is a modest requirement for games now. I always encourage Aleph One scenario designers to watch out for people on old machines, but that is because I believe said people would be choosing scenarios based on the engine they're capable of running, and also because it's not much extra trouble to support older machines with Aleph One's ability gracefully to degrade features. For a more modern engine, I expect them to have a more modern machine to run it :)
What may be more of a concern to you is if you support Windows (which you should!), where there are lots of machines with crappy built-in video cards. If you use OpenGL that makes it even worse.
