The last game I remember actually enjoying was Halo 2, and that was mostly because of who I played it with. I still think Halo was a better game, and neither were particularly groundbreaking. They were simply solid FPSs.

Before that? Starcraft.

I have seen friends playing all sorts of newer games, but I have always thought they sucked. That being said, games people remember from the past are generally remembered as being better than they were because they appealed to you as you were back then. If an equivalent of Super Mario Bros. came out next year, it would likely be shooed away. (I am not implying anything about you, just making a point.)

The most recent game I have purchased to play is Myst V and I am saving it for this fall, when all of my friends disappear to their respective universities. Everything else I have looked at just seems to be a copy of another game that was released ages ago.
