A transparent polygon edge is any of the light-blue lines in draw mode. Basically, it's any point where two polygons meet, and you can see through that intersection. Texturing, therefore, has no effect on how many transparent lines you see, unless you uncheck the "transparent" option on a line by double-clicking on the line in draw mode.
