: nevermind... yeah, ignore my advice. you shouldn't have to rename anything.
Also, renaming in the Finder is exactly the same as renaming in Get Info, provided you have "Show All File Extensions" on in the Finder prefs, which ought to be on by default and if not, everyone should always have it on. It's bad enough Apple went backwards to use file extensions in the first place - hiding them is a mortal sin. All IMNSFHO of course.
