Well, I suppose that most people would consider Tycho the evil AI, but this might be like that just because Tycho's colour is aggressive red and the player is with Durandal most of the time (especially in M2).
The worst missions the player has to accomplish though, he's send on by Durandal (If I had a Rocketlauncher). After playing the Tycho Plank in RubiconX my view on Tycho changed quite a bit.
He uses the Pfhor for his purposes just like Durandal does the Bobs and the player. So, their means are quite similar. Tycho tries to prevent the once rampant Durandal from becoming an almighty god. If I were Tycho I wouldn't want that to happen either. Tycho was the science AI onboard the Marathon. He's definitely more rational than Durandal. Maybe if he had chosen another colour he wouldn't be such a bad guy.
