Need help with Aleph One

Hello, everyone.

Just recently I downloaded both Marathon Infinity and the latest release build of Aleph One. I dragged Aleph One and all of its files from the disk image into the Marathon Infinity folder and launched it. I try to play the game, but then realize that I forgot to configure the controls (default controls uses the keypad numbers on a stationary computer, and I own a laptop). I go into the preferences and change the controls to my preference. As soon as I hit ok, Aleph One simply quits on me. I try again a few more times, only to be met with the same results. Am I using a bugged up version of Aleph One? Do I need certain files? Could anyone give me some help with this? If they could, I'd be very appreciative.
