Excalibur: Morgana's Revenge for Mac OS X - now in Final Beta!
Aug 18, 2006 - For Immediate Release

The long awaited port of Excalibur: Morgana's Revenge (EMR) to the Aleph One engine is now in final beta testing. The Aleph One port brings EMR to the Mac OS X platform, as well as to Windows and Linux.

EMR is a Marathon total conversion, and the most ambitious undertaking ever to be unleashed for the Marathon community. Like most total conversions, EMR brings exciting new maps and physics to the Marathon engine. However, EMR also includes original textures and landscapes for a variety of time periods, a completely new set of weapons, new monsters and friends, all new sprites, new sounds, original music, and a carefully woven original story line. Using the Aleph One engine, EMR now sports all new hi-res wall textures, 16-bit sounds, new high quality original music, and loads of new special features using Aleph One's MML and Lua scripting languages. EMR creates an amazing new world, making it an entirely new and unique gaming experience.

EMR starts where Devil in a Blue Dress left off. As a Federation Marine resting after your last mission, you start aboard the exploration class Starship Kronos where you learn that your real mission has yet to begin! You are re-acquainted with the AI Merlin, who introduces you to Kronos time traveling technology, and reveals your new mission: to save mankind from the clutches of Morgana and her minions. Through untamed raptor-infested jungles, castle arenas, and war-torn streets of the future, you will wield weapons from all time periods, including the Sword of Power, Excalibur, in an effort to thwart the diabolical plot that unfolds. The EMR adventure, spread across 41 solo levels, weaves a tale of truth and honor, knighthood and bravery, and darkness and treachery. EMR also delivers 26 adrenaline pumped network levels. Best of all, it's all free!

Here's just a sample of the new and exciting features available in the Aleph One port of EMR:
- Levels with fog and mist
- Persistent effects such as poison, earthquakes, fire storm spell, and timed grenades
- Original MP3 music
- 12 unique weapons, including a new Dragon Flamer and T9000 Railgun
- New spells for your wand, including fire storm, teleportation, and raise the dead
- Beautifully rendered OpenGL textures and landscapes
- New Morgana and Trex hi-res sprites
- A huge variety of new hi-res scenery items
- Raptor gallery holodeck that now keeps score
- Blood Gulch style net map with 8 simulated net players and a huge battlefield
- An ice rink net map where players slip and slide while trying to snipe at others
- A basketball court netmap where grenades in a basket win points for your team
- A beautiful new future level that let's you drive a Hoverbike!
- A total of 4 brand new solo maps, giving you a total of 41 intriguing single player levels
- Lots of updated maps with new areas, new tasks, new features, and new secrets
- New powerups, such as apples, bananas, health kits, emergency kits, and finally a use for all those magic scrolls!
- And much, much, more...

There are a few things still in the works for EMR before it's final release, but this beta release is expected to be the last beta release. For those interested in helping with our beta testing, please download EMR 3b8 from http://sourceforge.net/projects/emr3/.

EMR is brought to you by ExcaliburWorld Software and the Marathon Map Makers Guild.
