: Most of the mappers I know go through two routes: posting it on Fileball ,
: and cramming it down other peoples' throats by hosting netgames with the
: map selected.

Yeah, not my style. I'm strictly scenario oriented. I like the idea of having a mandatory co-op level netplay (wasn't somebody doing this in a recent TC?) but so far I'm sticking to solo maps.

: And Hastur's Guide to Mapmaking is always a good read... and someone
: published a Map Making Aesthetics or Guide to Mapmaking or something like
: that. It had a decent list of Dos-and-Don'ts.

I found a lot of tips (including Hastur's guide) on the BattleCat's page. I remember some sort of list of do's/don'ts from somewhere...I'll keep hunting for it.

: But all in all the technical side of the process is very easy and
: straightforward. It's mostly the creative part that's terribly difficult.

No joke there...I've come to realize that every idea that seems like a good idea can quickly turn into a hornet's nest of work or problems to fix. And just getting those good ideas into recognizable shape can seem impossible at times.

Thanks!
