Both source.bungie.org and marathon.sourceforge.net effectively have the instructions I just gave. There's also a marathon (windows) for dummies guide, again with the same instructions. Where else would you like them? :)

s.b.o. is just a disaster, but as you know I don't have much control over that :(
I could add a FAQ to marathon.sourceforge.net but I don't think anyone looks at it. Mark Levinn's guide is good but (imo) far too long. The Marathon (windows) for Dummies guide, is for Windows...
