: Networks don't have addresses, like 'irc.freenode.net' or 'irc.bungie.org'.
: I'm not sure how servers in one network address the network, but they have
: simple names like "EFnet" or "DALnet". Things with
: addresses like those above are most definitely servers, which may or may
: not be a part of any network (and in doing so would be like a one-server
: network of their own).
Freenode is in fact its own network (with servers like brown.freenode.net; irc.freenode.net is just a forwarding loadbalancing server), and irc.bungie.net appears to be (although I could be wrong) a network with a single server (and not much activity... #alephone and #marathon were both empty when I visited). It appears that most of the Marathon community that uses IRC has chosen Freenode, as EFNet seems to be largely empty as well, while #alephone on freenode has 15 people at the moment.
