Lost Network Packets Oddity
Posted By: EnderDate: 1/22/06 10:25 a.m.

I was reading over the LNP and I don't know what to make of something. Maybe I missed something, or whatnot, but this doesn't make sense. The last message reads:

"
That goddamn computer. It took him seven years just to
let me use a terminal."

This is seven years after the attack on the Marathon. Shouldn't Durandal be on his way to Lh'owon by now? The fight with the Pfhor took two days. At the end of it, Leela tells us:

"The Pfhor ship vanished about twenty minutes ago, after
venting nearly a thousand Pfhor bodies and other refuse. I am
positive that Durandal is in control, and fear what he might
do with such a powerful ship during the Jealous stage of his
Rampancy."

Leela believes that Durandal was in control of the captured Pfhor ship and that he jumped away twenty minutes before the end of the battle. How is he communicating with von Muller during the travel? I had originally assumed that von Muller was trapped on board the Marathon, but the second Bungie e-mail leaves another option.

"1. In our first message, the Von Muller transmissions were described as
originating from the U.E.S.C. Marathon. This is actually incorrect; they
were in fact sent from some other, presently unidentified vessel, as the
header at the top of the messages attests. We are unsure how this error
crept in, since the only people who knew about that message were myself,
Greg, and this comp...oh no."

So, did Durandal teleport von Muller off of the Marathon and into a holding chamber on Boomer? Is that why this is an unidentifiable vessel? The only problem is that Boomer was a scoutship, not a warship. Plus, there appears to be a date registered to the burst download:

2703.4.21.4

Although, all of the other dates have five sets of numbers, while this has only four. If this really is a date, why does it read 2703? Was it affected by Leela's attempts at messing with human history? Or was that the date when the burst download really took place? It just doesn't quite add up.

PS. On a slightly unrelated note, did Durandal teleport any colonists onto Boomer? Or are all the BOBs in M2 from the Pfhor capturing humans for slaves?
