In Response To: Marathons impact on everyday life (Blayne) Holy crap I'm out of the loop… Marathon has done a lot for me in recent years of my life. Playing it when I was young encouraged me to play videogames, in essence discovering more of the Internet and all it beholds (This internet thing is really cool!). Its urged me to study histroy and literature more, I currently know more mythology and historical references than anyone in my school put together. It has also opened up my eyes in art and has inspired me on so many levels. In the duration of my everyday life, I use the number 7 as my lucky number, I'm alerted everytime I hear that chilling voice on the Space channel say the word "Marathon" when its advertising for the Boxing Day Marathon reruns of Stargate and stuff, I confuse the hell out of my teachers everytime I speak some latin from Marathon, and everytime my friends go nuts and begin cheering, I yell out "Frog Blast the Vent Core!" I will also, love the day when Bungie's Marathon will eventualy gain as much credit as Shakespeare's or Edgar Allan Poe's work. The day it will be taught in the public school system will be a day I will cherish. Then I can go to my English and Art teachers and be all in-your-face about how they're wrong about Videogames not being an art or literature form. Booya! On the other hand, Marathon's birthday is tomorrow… I'll be wearing my Top Hat.
