In Response To: Leela Timeline Discrepancy Explanation? (Purple Penguin)

: Okay, everyone knows that Marathon's timeline as seen on the story page
: lists Leela's light-speed warning message as having reached Earth twelve
: years after it was sent, even though Leela said it would take ninety-two
: years to send. Is there any explanation for the timeline's entry, and if
: its wrong, why hasn't it been corrected?

Simple fact - Tau Ceti is a real star that's nearly 12 light years away. It's not the Story Page that is wrong - it was Lela's original message. There are two theories as to why the discrepancy exists. The first and most likely is that Bungie made a mistake. A more "acceptable" explanation has been argued here on the forum - that Lela deliberately misstated the distance to earth in order to throw the Pfhor off in their search for our home planet.
