: So, perhaps, the next direction to take the scenario is to delve into that
: more "common" Pfhor culture; their original family/civil
: structure. Now that their military might has been fractured, a way can be
: found into the midst of their civilian life. Perhaps they are totally
: "evil" and even enslave their wives and children, or they are no
: different than us in many respects. Would it be good or bad to subject
: them to Durandal's schemes? Do they need to be freed? Maybe they are no
: more colonial than England during the height of her empire, or like Japan
: during WWII?
There was a great little fanfic/humor thing way back in the old days of alt.games.marathon called "Legions of Eupfhoria" which delved into this very notion, albiet in a rather humorous and not particularly 'realistic' manner. It stars a fighter and an enforcer named Pfhred and F'Lush who work (initially, at least) in a fast food restaurant on a Pfhor world somewhere, and through a series of misadventures eventually wind up being drawn up into some sort of overarching plot of good versus evil... the series ended before anything really serious could happen, but they made some interesting friends along the way like K'Luck the Hunter, who was the star of a television cooking program.
I think one of my favorite bits of all was some scene where Pfhred et al are in an alleyway somewhere with a pack of cigarettes that they somehow got second or third hand, which originally came from some human forces fighting some other Pfhor somewhere else... and they're talking about the rumors of how these humans breath smoke and fire and maybe these things are what give them their power... and after a few minutes of gagging after trying to smoke, they decide that humans are just crazy, that's all.
All this was written by a fellow by the name of Svywranth (who incidentally also made the Naked/Unarmed/Native S'pht in Eternal, which I call Svy S'pht). He also made some pretty damn good illustrations to go along with it, some of which I still have archived somewhere... I thought it was on my webspace but apparently it's not. There's one awesome pic I don't think I have, of Pfhred with bell piercings in his cranial glands and a three-lensed type of "John Lennon Style" shades... total punk Pfhor. Awesomage. I'm gonna have to see if I do have that somewhere...
