Cause of problem: I was using a "ranged hit" effect that was not in the same collection as the monster I was using, and the monster the effect came from did not appear in the level. As a result, the effect was not loaded which again messed up *all* impact effects.
Solution: Add the monster the effect belongs to to the level.
