In Response To: gorans experince of ua (goran) Goran, there is a huge difference between family on the one hand and friends and aquaintances on the other. In my neck of the woods, treating the people around you they way you would treat a family member who gives you unsoliscited advice is a good way to get stabbed or shot. Not that that's right, either, but closed-mindedness (and don't deny that you're closed-minded - you've basically told us that you are) amounts to not showing others respect for their opinions and beliefs. Now you would probably say that it is the others that are not respecting you for who you are and to an extent, you'd be right. Let me put this another way - if you work for anyone other than yourself, you're going to have to put up with a lot of unsoliscited advice and failure to heed it will get you fired. Even if you do work for yourself, if you're in a business that has customers, you're customers will get pissed off and stop coming back if you don't put up with their mindless banter. Either way you're screwed. |
