Trojan Volunteers - Burn! Burn! Burn

Continuing with the Trojan Volunteers Series, you'll recall that in our last episode Gencorp arrived and lents us their assistance. For the time being, they'll continue to be the good guys, but not for long! This is a really cool extermination level with a lot of exploration and some interesting architecture. My one gripe is that it's sometimes a bit confusing as to where to go next, but eventually the player will find the way. There are a lot of lava streams and pits one can fall into, so be careful. One of the potentially more confusing points is where the player needs to actually jump into one of these streams and head upstream briefly to find a PB and recharger, as well as a significant area to exterminate. At one point the player comes to a 3X recharger - this is one of the ones that doesn't work in AO (as was the case in the last level), so you may need to use some NRG or just be exceptionally good if you're playing the unofficial AO version. After leaving this area, there is no way back until reaching the end. In some ways it is better to leave some monsters to kill behind, as this will insure that you can eventually return to recharge before going on to Damage is our Middle Name.

All-in-all, I like this level. It has some exceptionally good eye candy and a very nice flow of action - a bit too much action at some points, but there is ample ammo and availability of shield rechargers and PB's to keep the player going after dealing with the initial hoard. The arbitrariness of some doors reminds me of Tempus Irae, but that's a relatively minor complaint
