In Response To: Eternal Progress (Forrest of B.org)

: The textures have been highly revamped already, all sets; more variety and
: better color balance, especially the Pfhor set (formerly known as
: "GYAHHH MY EYES!!!").

Ahh, poor Gah my etes, I knew him well.

: I've got Jon Irons working on all the Anvil tweaking of shapes and physics
: and importing all the old monsters in. He's presently out of town... or
: apparently just got home yesterday, as I am now told... and will be
: starting on that soonish.

: I *had* Maarten Tromp ("•M" from here) working on the new monsters
: that never got made for Chapter 5, but he's vanished off the face of the
: net and nobody knows where he went to. Me_43 has been complaining about
: this lately as well, as Maarten was doing the modelling for Engine Zero's
: Marathon port.

: I still need someone to do weapons and new player models.

In Anvil? I could try that if you want, but I'm pretty new (read: just got it working) to Anvil.

: I've revised and created a lot of other graphics: the main screen, the HUD,
: terminal picts, chapter screens, landscapes (landscapes are now all 360°
: views and there are 1.5 times as many of them as before), and so on.

Ohh! 360 degreesa! That is soo cool!

: A rough prologue and epilogue has been made by Dylan, but it still needs a
: lot of work and may be scrapped or revised unless he cleans it up before
: someone else comes along to redo it.

I downloaded the prolouge, and I really liked the scrolling screen intro thing. Sadly, Aleph crahed when I tried walking over a polygon smewhe in the map.

: Goran has rebuilt the Failure dreams, and they rock.

Sweet.

: Adam has mostly rebuilt the Success dreams and they rock even more.
: Seriously. This level is OMGWTF huge, the biggest damn thing I think has
: ever been made in Marathon, a real goddamn mountain (bigger than the one
: in the old Success dreams, and much more realistic too)... and most
: impressively, it is both fun and challenging to play *even with no
: monsters*.

Dude.

: Mikey "OogaBooga" Finley is working, slowly, on chapter 3. He says
: he's got Ch3 level 1 about half done right now. I haven't seen it yet
: myself. The rest of this chapter is largely remakes of old M2 levels.
: Hell, when I get some free time I could probably do a couple of them
: myself, or at least get them started.

I allways liked those areas reminiscent of M2, brought back old times or something. There was at least one really good one in the prolouge level that was from "just fate of the foolish" (I can't spell it in latin)

: All in all, I'd say we're about 1/3 done with the whole revision process, and
: I'm aiming for a late 2006 release. Maybe Infinity's 10th anniversary,
: which is basically the birth date of Eternal, too. But don't hold me to
: that. (But please, hold THEM to that. I'm not doing much of the work on
: this part of the project, I leave that to people more skilled than I am,
: so that the results don't suck as much).

: But, Blake... aren't you on our dev list anyway? I thought I added you a
: while back.

I sent you some music, but I never heard back from you about it. Now that I've got Froge and Anvil working fairly well, I could try doing some stuff with that for you, I'm new to it, but I'm enthusiastic. But Enternal X sounds like the best thing since diced kumquat, or something really cool like that :)
