Any interest in a Trojan Volunteers series?

As if I needed to ask. I thought so! Since ERM Volunteers is on hiatus while we wait for EMR 3.0b8 to come out, we might as well make good use of the time ;^)

For those of you who wish to play along, Trojan is available in both Mac and PC flavors. The Trojan team has expressly forbidden anyone to create an AO port of Trojan, however, many of us have done so anyway for our own personal use and instructions for making your own can be found in this post. You will need both a PC and a Mac to do the prot, or you will need Virtual PC for the Mac or Basillic for the PC to complete the port. The instructions here are for a PC, but everything works equally well with AO for the Mac. If you aren't up to this sort of patch work, you're probably better off playing the originals - Trojan for Mac, or Trojan for Windows. There are minor differences between the two, and we'll try to cover these in the Volunteers posts. There are a few issues with the AO port should you chose to tackle it - some scenery objects are rendered incorrectly, and some 3X shield rechargers do not work. Should we ever get permission, we'll fix these some day but, in the meantime, you can simply implement AO's cheat codes as a workaround - provided you only use NRG to get what is rightfully yours!

Just a word about the format of the Trojan Volunteers Series. Previous Volunteers efforts have often degraded into a series of walkthroughs of each level. For DiaBD, this was not entirely inappropriate since there is no available spoiler guide for the scenario. Trojan already has an excellent spoiler guide that is complete with diagrams, and it is included as part of the package. There is therefore no need for a walkthrough of Trojan, no matter what flavor you play. What is often missing from the spoiler guide is how to get the numerous secrets, and those very definitely will be discussed here. Otherwise the main nature of the posts will focus on each level in terms of its significance - what is the story here, what is unique or inovative about the map and what are the finer points of gameplay.

I'll give everybody a chance to download and/or port the scenario if they haven't already done so. I'll make the first post tomorrow if nothing else gets in the way.
