In Response To: Hero (Ori)

: I was watching the documentary included on the Star Wars dvd set(the last one
: that came out, I think)and they were talking about how Lucas studied a lot
: of old myths to understand about what made a great tale really great, what
: made a hero, etc. Anyway, they flashed a book called 'Hero of a Thousand
: Faces' and of course I immediatly thought of the KYT unformatted term. Has
: anyone read or heard of this book? Might have some interesting information
: to decipher this terminal a little further.

Joseph Campbell, IIRC, is the author of that book, and is mentioned on the KYT section of the Story Page. Campbell is talking more about how every hero story is telling the exact same story, that there's immortal myths that are reflective of essential human natures and will thus naturally be reinvented over and over again in every culture for as long as people are people... but, it's easily narrativized (holy s'pht that's a real word) into a literal 'eternal champion' meta-mythos like that described in the KYT terminal.
