After trying this one about a dozen times on TC last night I gave up to save time ... and then it all came back to me, and suddenly I'm not looking forward to the next few days - especially 'Skinner Box' and 'Let The Lava Lead You' ... they're just a hassle, but I'll play along I'm sure :).
As for this level, well other than the annoyances that have been brought up, I tend to find the alien encounter just after the platform puzzle rather a pain, as there's nowhere to run when the lava comes up - on TC it's pretty much a case of getting lucky and having one or both the blue projectile fighters not come down on the first pass.
Interestingly this time, for the first time, I did notice that it looked like there were stairs in that room on the map - just before I read about the secret on here.
