In Response To: Will this help? (goran)

: I've read through this whole thead now, and as I see it, there's a huge gap
: between the marathon players/mappers and the programmers. I guess the
: programmers don't intend to piss us off, even though they do! What we all
: need to learn is to see things from other peoples perspectives.

Clearly.

Here are the projects in current development I'm aware of:
1) Clean up pregame network code
2) Clean up dialog code
3) Add ability to unload MML scripts
4) Add carbon metaserver interface
5) Add additional lua functionality, including functions on projectiles

For 1 and 2, the code in those areas was messy and unmaintainable, so we're fixing. 3 is a prerequisite for allowing us to use different MML scripts without restarting Aleph One. 4 will allow non-SDL users to connect to and host games listed at mariusnet. 5 lets lua scripts do things like guided rockets.

Nightly builds are created automatically whenever there is a change in the code. If you want to guinea pig them for us, or if they have a new feature you want to use, that's great. But just by the nature of software development, we can't always get things right first time around. There will be bugs.

I'd like to see new release builds once we get metaserver support and pregame network code to a point where we're happy with them.
