Pattern Recognition

Okay. So I was going through a backup of my drive I made a while back and stumbled across the short bit of...something...that I'll link to at the bottom of this page. I'm fairly certain that I didn't write this (I mean...who writes something and then forgets that they wrote it? That'd be weird and out of character), but it contains a certain line or two that I have to talk to the author about. It's fairly important to a rather large thing that I want to publicize shortly.

And no, I just saved the body of the text rather than the contact info that was doubtless coupled with it.

So that's where you guys come in. Do any of you recognize the text? If so, could you direct me to an original link? Google doesn't turn anything up, sadly enough.
