Age of the Pfhor Empire?

While browsing the MSP, I noticed this little bit on Try Again: 



he Pfhor are sla``vers.  Their trading empire``````~ rose to

prominence soon afterwe!!~eft Earth over three hundred years

ago.


And yet in Marathon 2, Durandal tells us of the Nahk revolt against the Pfhor *6,000* years ago. And of course, they enslaved the S'pht some 1,000 years ago. ('years ago' all relative to Marathon time, late 28th century). And the Drinniol revolt, even worse than the Nahk, happened even longer before then.

The only explanations I can think of are:

(A) The Pfhor empire has risen and fell and the most recent uprising again was 300 years before, but then, what caused their fall since the enslavement of the S'pht?

or (B) The Nahk revolt and Drinniol revolt were only so much worse than the S'pht revolt because they happened when the Pfhor empire was so much smaller and less capable of dealing with them, but in that case, the Pfhor empire has been around in a tiny, non-"prominent" (whatever that means) manner - and yet still with major slave races and the capability to conquer entire technologically-advanced planets - for many thousands.

Thoughts?
