Hah! So you thought Durandal was in this mad rush to escape the impending closure of the universe sometime in the next few decades? Heheh... would be an interesting plot idea though. "Something is going to happen soon, not immediately but within this generation, and it will destroy the universe when it happens. We've got to do something now while we still have time."

Every story of impending doom is always "if it's not stopped by midnight tomorrow..." (or by Friday the 13th, 1994). Never "...in a couple of decades, but we have no fscking clue what to do about it so lets start fixing it now".
