In Response To: Marathon startup problem - Powerbook (Mike)

: Boy, it's hard to find documentation for tech issues - Claude sent me over

: this problem back in the day - maybe because I have a powerbook now?

Are you booted up in OS 9, or using the Classic Environment in OS X? There is a difference and it's significant. For example, some older video cards that are supported in OS 9 aren't supported in OS X and won't function properly in the Classic Environment either. What version of OS X do you have? I remember this exact problem in the OS X public beta and in OS X 10.0. Version 10.1 was the first version that fully supported keyboard plus mouse in the Classic Environment. Indeed, it was the switch to OS X that ultimately forced me to learn to play using the keyboard exclusively, breaking me of the habit of using a mouse or trakpad. I'm a much better player today as a result - not that you need to follow my example. One more thing - if you have one of the newer aluminum PowerBooks, there seems to be a limit to the number of keys that can be simultaneously pressed. I can no longer run, side-step, turn and fire both triggers at the same time. I've adapted - again.
