Marathon startup problem

Marathon startup problem - Powerbook

Boy, it's hard to find documentation for tech issues - Claude sent me over here in the hopes of getting some help! I realize that Marathon cannot be run in OSX, so I fired up OS9 and everything starts to work like I remember, except every time I startup the game the picture spins wildly as long as mouse support is enabled... Any suggestions? I never used to have this problem back in the day - maybe because I have a powerbook now?
