: That's about the only reason I kept this level, aside from time constraints,
: and I'm thinking of turning it into a net level for Eternal X, especially
: if we move Core Done Blew here and put your Bridge level as level 6. I
: really hate this map on an intellectual level on account of it makes no
: sense at all, but somehow, and I don't know why, that big hall outside
: just feels... fun, somehow. I really don't understand it myself.

Are any of you playing this on TC? Yes, the layout is fun, but the monster regeneration problem makes it surprisingly difficult - so much so that stopping to save your game or recharge your shields is downright dangerous and has a moderate probability of leaving you with an unplayable game. And the core - on TC the monsters always follow you in, and they just keep on coming. If you try to take the time to clear the room, another batch will rush in just as you finish clearing out the last. Forget using the platform - the projectile fighters and troopers will knock you off it every time. Basically, I found this level to be incredibly frustrating on TC and look forward to it being replaced with Core Done Blew. Forrest, if Adam never comes through with the bridge level, I would suggest using a monster impassible barrier to keep the regenerating monsters out of the core and populating the core with a fresh, finite batch of monsters to keep everyone happy.

: I actually realized a possible flaw in Tycho's style. For one, I had
: forgotten that we did hear more of Tycho in M1, and he doesn't sound very
: similar to my Tycho, though most of that M1 Tycho is post-rebuilding. Two,
: Tycho in M2 mentions that he resented his use as a tool by the humans,
: though that could be his reinterpretation of past events in new light.

You're right, the pre-assimilation Tycho is much more matter-of-fact than yours, but I recall only one terminal to go on, and he was in the process of being assimilated at the time.

: I'm considering having Tycho rewritten, his motives changed from altruistic
: to simple self-interest: perhaps Tycho, liking Humans or not, would rather
: not wind up like Hathor says he does, as a tool of the Pfhor Empire.
: Perhaps he dislikes that idea so much that he'd rather be destroyed, if it
: would stop that future from happening again.

: I think it'd make him much more interesting.

Sounds good.

: As an aside, it just occurred to me - you and Hathor's mission here was to
: capture the other 8 Battleroids, but leave yourself and her, so that the
: humans in the future of this timeline would be able to use you both to
: complete the causality loop - thus we doom no timelines by our own
: actions. But Hathor obviously isn't sticking to plan, and she bitches
: quite a bit about not having a body anymore... and hey, down there on Tau
: Ceti is her old self...

: I'm not sure exactly how to incorporate this element into the story, but I
: like it.

So do I - a lot. I think Hathor would have two possible objectives regarding her former self - she would either want to rescue herself in that timeline (i.e. not send her to the future) so that she would not be doomed to live as an AI, or destroy her so as to end the cycle that resulted in her tortured future. The one thing she would never tolerate would be to let her live as a separate entity in the future, and I doubt that she'd settle for letting herself repeat the events that led to her state in the future. Does that make sense?
