ResCompare patches usually require the exact same version of the app, so if it's an app patcher it needs the 1.2 version of the Infinity app. However if anyone has a patched app it should be possible to make an MML script with all the same changes and alleviate this neccesity.
If it's an Anvil Shapes or Sound patch, those too are picky about what version of Anvil you use, but they pretty much universally all suck. I'm surprised nobody ever made the equivalent of Shapes Juggler for the Sound files.
