Links between Halo and Marathon

Links between Halo and Marathon

One thing thats been floating around my head a lot lately, is things in Halo and Halo 2 being similar to things in Marathon. I thought I could see if any one has found some of these, or even more.
I'll begin with some of the basics.
First off, the Spartan warrior, was a human who had a military rank, who died somehow and was brought back to life as a solder of sorts. Same goes for Marathon's battleroids.
Now about the Mjolnirs. Both in Marathon and Halo, the player is a Mjolnir Mark IV. However, in Halo, I believe it refer's to the Spartan's armour type. In Marathon, I think it refers to the company who made it, and it's version, seeing as how the recycled humans from the war between Icarus and /Thermoplye?/ became Battleroids, rather than Mjolnirs, as explained in the M1.
In Halo 2, when the human vessel comes surrounded by Covenant ships, and the player must defend the ship, This is similar to when Durandal's ship was crashed on Lh'owon's third moon and was surrounded by Tycho's fleets.
And as a big similarity, in Halo, the player is on a shuttle to the Halo when it comes under attack by the Alien forces from nowhere. Very similar in Marathon when the player comes to the Marathon on shuttle Mirata, and came under fire from Alien forces that materialized in from nowhere.
These are just some of the similarities I found. If you can find any more, or correct me on any, please do so.
