I think another reason a jetpack is provided at the beginning of Their Gamla is in case a player used too much of the jetpack fuel in Newton. The jetpack does not contain a large amount of fuel. After conducting repeated experimental continuous firings of the jetpack, it seems that the player has only about 5-7 seconds of fuel (although a couple of times I seemed to have about 10 seconds....it tends to vary). That's not very much. If a player uses too much of the fuel on Newton (for whatever reason), then they might find themselves unable to complete Their Gamla. Perhaps Matt and Andrew put another one at the beginning in case a player is running low.
