I was impressed with this particular feature and will always make this my top priority once I enter the bottom floor. Too bad a similar feature doesn't occur in the later level "Newton's Apple". Has this setup occurred in other scenarios? That is, allowing the player to close off access to infinitely regenerating enemies?
