Origin of Neoptolemus

I was reading a book called "The End of the World", which has many historical accounts of "ends of the world". One was an exceprt from the Aeneid, Virgil's tale of the fall of Troy. Here's the snippet where he's mentioned:

Abd Pyrrhus: "Carry off these tidings; go
and bring this message to my father, son
of Peleus; and rememeber, let him know
my sorry doings, how degenerate
is Neoptolemus. Now die." This said,
he dragged him to the very altar stone

Thats all I'm gonna put up here. Interesting.
