Johannes, I probably have nowhere near the audio talent you do. If anything, I should be asking you for pointers on technique and such. I’m still pretty much in my “experimentation” faze, still learning all the different and cool stuff that can be done. That said, I used to use Goldwave for all my sound editing, but my PC took a nose dive a wile back, and I haven’t bothered un-fucking it yet. Now I use something called SndSampler on my OS 8. It’s shareware, so it’s not as full-featured as I’d like, but it seams to be getting the job done. What do you use for sound editing?

When it comes to making stuff, yeah, I usually start off by recording something (like the beep of a cell pone dial, or static off my radio) to use as a base sound, and then go from there, messing with the pitch and EQ, adding layers, etc etc. For instance, I created a pretty nice mortar firing sound by smacking my open palm over the mouth of a lead pipe. In fact, most of the stuff I’ve done so far is weapon sounds (I find short bursts of audio much more easy to work with.) Living in Texas, I have plenty of things laying around that go “bang” ;-)

: Great stuff ernie!
: hmmm Deathmonger.. you a sound guy? (i'm a soundguy but missing the proper
: app's and some technuiqes) what app's do you usually use? And how do you
: usually make sound? just record some thing that sounds close to what you
: are makin' and then edit it? or...?
