Hanger 7: World War II origins . . .
Posted By: JägerDate: 6/13/04 5:12 p.m.

just something you might find interesting:

After Pearl Harbor and the Philippines, the west was taken by surprise by the superiority of Japanese fighters. With no intelligence sources to help fill their void on the technical capabilities of the aircraft, Gen. MacArthur established the Technical Intelligence Agency (TIA). Their job: to find downed Japanese aircraft, analyze and reconstruct them, and fly them to figure out their weaknesses and strengths. The place they started their work: a little place near Brisbane, Australia referred to simply as "Hanger 7."

Now unless some of the early Bungie crew happened to read WWII novels I doubt this is more than an interesting coincidence. But it just goes to show that the number 7 is where all mystery and intrigue originates- whether its a government agency testing unknown and unidentified aircraft or the beginning of Marathon!

(the hanger in bungie was named fully Hanger 7A (Port) in the map)
