In Response To: Re: Marathon: The Movie (Yossarian)

I only started a few days ago, and I might do an M2 script when this is done.

UPDATE: I changed the BOB sequence in order to Leela's exit terminal, and added the sequence of events for Bigger Guns Nearby.

18 INT. HANGAR 7 CONTROL ROOM

A pair of Fighters pace back and forth, chattering impatiently.

*CLANG*

An armored fist punches through the vent cover in the ceiling overhead, .44 at the ready. Both Fighters are blown against the wall.

Jones (O.S.):

"Let's go!"

He jumps down and assists the BOB as he nervously scrambles through the opening. The BOB tries the terminal.

BOB:

"The systems are functional. Where are we going?"

Jones:

"Can it take me to an armory?"

The BOB types a command sequence.

BOB:

"Good to go."

The terminal BEEPS. BOB punches another sequence.

Leela (O.S., filtered):

"Good, you found a way in.

All of the information that I have gathered so far indicates
that the Alien invasion of the Marathon has been relatively
uncoordinated. I suspect that this is partially due
to the Marathon's large size.

However disorderly the Alien invasion is, their assault of the
Computer Net has been extremely effective. I detect security
breaches in almost every computer system onboard the Marathon;
I have learned that there is an Alien creature that is capable
of interfacing with our systems.

You must kill any of these creatures that you find. It is a
priority that we stop them. Even now, they are penetrating my
defenses."

Jones:

"Guess we'll have to stop them, then."

BOB:

"Mind if I stay here?"

Jones:

"You sure?"

The BOB nods and pulls a pistol out of a locker beside the terminal. After a moment Jones stands on the jump pad and disappears in a TV snow-like teleport effect.

19 INT. TUNNEL

Jones appears in a reverse of the effect we just saw. A Pfhor Fighter attacks almost immediately. Rather than waste ammo, Jones swings back and punches the Fighter. Yellow goo splatters all over.

Jones:

"Contents under pressure, do not puncture."

He chuckles sardonically and does the same to the next pair, before logging onto another of those omnipresent terminals.

Leela (O.S., filtered):

"Glad you're still alive."

Jones:

"I hear that there are bigger guns nearby."

Leela (O.S., filtered):

"Indeed. I am now in contact with a number of colonists planetside, but
their reports on the situation below are conflicting and
obviously exaggerated. The primary medium-range radio antenna
has been disabled or destroyed, which makes communication
extremely difficult.

The only thing which seems clear is that the spaceport was
obliterated by low-yield nuclear weapons minutes after the
attack on the Marathon began. This I can verify through my
own optical instruments.

The invaders seem to be more interested in the Marathon than
the colony, at least in the short term. The motives behind
their unprovoked attack are still unknown, however.

As for the bigger guns, there are MA-75 assault rifles in the lockers here."

She highlights a spot on the floorplan beside the text.

"I can't teleport you from here, so you will need to find another terminal to leave this area. Be careful; the doors and elevators in this part of the ship are malfunctioning."

Jones:

"Thanks for the update. I'll be in touch."

Leela (O.S., filtered):

"Acknowledged."

20 INT. ARMORY

GUNS and AMMO on racks all around the room. We hear the now-familiar sound of the .44 heralding Jones' arrival. He grabs an MA-75 ASSAULT RIFLE off the rack, loads a clip and grenade cylinder, racks the bolt, and grabs all the ammo he can carry.

The MA-75 is a dual-purpose weapon, looking like a cross between the Armat M-41A from Aliens and the H&K XM29 OICW. The primary mode is a 52-round box-fed, fully automatic 7.62mm AR, with an integral seven-round cylinder-fed 30mm grenade launcher, also automatic, underneath.

21 EXT. FIRING RANGE-FLASHBACK

Flashback sequence: We see PVT. JONES, a man in his early 20s, standing in line with a group of similar soldiers. A UESC DRILL SERGEANT is explaining the use of the MA-75.

Sarge:

"It's a noisy toy designed to impress pompous old generals, with way too much muzzle climb and a recoil akin to that of wrestling a greased pig. Speaking of grease, the lubricants are also crap which means no firing in a vacuum. Still, it's not totally useless and it's all we're getting, so..."

22 INT. CORRIDOR

Jones moves along a dark, dingy corridor, rifle raised.

23 INT. MAINTENANCE ACCESS

One of those places where most rarely go. Jones spots a pair of computer terminals and breaths a sigh of relief.

*ZAP!*

The relief is short-lived as several S'pht swoop in. Jones takes a hit before he raises the MA-75 and FIRES. The rifle is extremely loud, with a muzzle flash to rival that of the M-56A2 smartgun seen in Aliens.

The S'pht fritz and vaporize one after another. After sweeping for more opponents, Jones goes to one of the terminals and contacts Leela.

Leela: (O.S., filtered):

"Hello, again. I have the update as promised.

The Marathon's automated defenses were disabled during the
initial attack by a directed magnetic pulse. The aliens used
the same weapon to disable Durandal and Tycho, and to
severely damage myself.

Since Durandal is responsible for controlling the ship's autonomous
functions, doors, life support, kitchens, air reprocessors and
stairs are increasingly unreliable. Because he is non-functional, I am working to assume as many of these tasks as possible. Tycho controls
the science and engineering network, which I am also attempting to operate.

Now that you are better armed, our first priority is to
reactivate the Marathon's defenses, under my control, so that
we may offer some resistance to the aliens. I have built
three replacement circuit boards for the defense system, but
cannot move them from the manufacturing center without
assistance.

I will now transport you to retrieve the replacement parts,
and will give you further instructions when you arrive."

Jones:

"Got it."

He steps onto the JUMP PAD and beams out.

     Agreed. I'd pay $7 to see that in a theatre. *NM*Mista_B 5/24/04 6:22 p.m.
