I don't have time to respond to all of this, but I can tell you with certainty that Bungie intended some of them to survive, complete with slaves and an existing military force, to return in opposition to humanity.
Of course, that comes from the same source that let me say with certainty that Marathon and Halo were related, until their damn new website contradicted that...
Aw hell, maybe just make it all an Eternal tie-in. The Halo that would have been... But I'll have to wait to read the rest of your message before I know if that makes sense or not.
