: Those of us who saw the original Manchurian Candidate will recognize that
: little has been preserved of the original other than the name. Even the
: youngest of you know that "Old Blue Eyes", aka Frank
: Sinatra", was one of the greatest pop singers that ever lived. He was
: the ultimate teen idol during my parents' day, but had a major resurgence
: during my teenage years. What a lot of you probably don't know is that in
: between his major singing years, Sanatra had a significant acting career.
: Mostly B movies with a few notable exceptions, The Manchurian Candidate
: being one of them. The original film was perfect for the McCarthy era -
: the communists were fronting an anti-communist candidate for election to
: the White House. It seems pretty ridiculous today, but not so far fetched
: back at the beginning of the Cold War. Sanatra was at his best in that
: film.
: Thanks for bringing this up, Old Blue Eyes.
Er... "Sanatra?" C'mon, Steve. Get yer head in the game!
