In Response To: Remake of Original Marathon Soundtrack (Craig Hardgrove)

Including newpacific_reprise.mp3, which is specific to M1A1.

This is awesome work. Now I know that there are some purists out there who think that the game should retain the look and feel of it's original 1994 release. Indeed, the versions on the Story Page were recoreded by installing QuickTime 2 so as to retain the exact same sound quality as the original. Me - I love the new high-res textures (thanks Anaphel) and the Chiba tracks, but you're taking the music one step further. Chiba used a high-end MIDI setup to record the original MIDI tracks as they would have sounded with better equipment. But why stop there - the mp3 format wasn't useable in videogames back then. Now that most of our computers have the power to play mp3's and to render high-resolution textures with OpenGL, why not take advantage of the improved capabilities? Anaphel has provided a reasonable extrapolation of what Bungie might have done today with the M1 textures, and you're doing the same for the music component.

Keep up the good work!
