Ok, this is mostly for Ernie but other feedback is welcome, especially from RED fans or Ian himself. I just chatted with Adam a bit and brainstormed this all out...
Drop all proper nouns from Eternal Chapter 5 and rename the chapter something other than "Halo".
The fortress world is now some sort of Dyson sphere or otherwise not ring-shaped.
The parasitic foe originated on Earth, with the awakening of the first W'rk the ancient Jjaro ever encountered, on their own homeworld - Joshua. They figured out how to knock him out but not trap him in the sun yet. They managed to mop up most of his Organics, cleaning Earth of them, but one shipful of Organic-infested Jjaro was left unchallenged and would go on to spread throughout the galaxy, leading to the construction of the fortress worlds and the extermination of most organic sentients in the galaxy.
The failure timeline of Chapter 5 is a failure not just because you free and awaken a W'rk, but because the Organics' homeworld you just blew up was EARTH, which kinda ruins things for the future of the galaxy there.
