To all marathon players

I have suddenly realised that we mapmakers never care for what the players wants to see in maps. We always assume we know as we're players at the same time. However the more I think about it I start to believe we might miss a lot of great ideas if we just stick to our own wants. So what do you players want to see for kind of scenarios and maps. Do you have thoughts of maps but lacking the skills or time to make them come true?
I'm asking all this to get inspiration and new perspectives on marathon mapdesign.
