In Response To: RED Volunteers: How big's your can? (Mark Levin)

: I have no idea if it's
: possible to open the door to it- I assume the trick Steve and John keep
: hinting at is to use the Reaver Rocket Glove to push through the
: relatively thin wall separating it from the arena? In here is a large
: supply of weapons (I suspect it's the complete set weapons that provide
: the Reaver powers), as well as 2 invisiblity and 1 invincibility powerups,
: and a chance to charge up. It's also possible to steal a little health
: here and there by using the "alternate mode" of the Reaver
: Fusion Mace that John mentioned- it will heal you if you run into a wall
: while firing, so you can just run circles around the arena slamming into
: walls and pillars and coming away with a bit more health each time.

Actually, I have no idea what you guys are talking about. I didn't know it was possible to push through the wall. Did both of you know about this? If not, then how did you ever discover that? Anyway, here was my idea as to how to "take a break and recharge" when the player wishes. As soon as you teleport in, look straight ahead at the pink wall in the center. Immediately run to it and drop down in the hole. The floor at the bottom is at -9 WU, so it's pretty far down. At the bottom there are no enemies, and except for a couple of teleport polys, the floor is made up of Monster Impassable polys. So as long as you stay off the teleport polys, you are safe from any enemy fire. You can sit down there and recharge as much as you wish. When you are recharged, you use the teleport poly to return to the main floor. The hole in the floor is large enough that it is easy to return again and again to that safe area. That is what I had in mind for recharging at will. Depending upon what we do, that technique could still come in handy. I assume we will wish to prevent access to the room that Steve was referring to?

: That said, here's the list of changes I would make:
: Too tired to kill:

Mark, that's a pretty extensive list. It's really too much for me to take in all at once. Is it possible that we could take things slow and review each level one at a time. We could discuss each using a "volunteers" approach, decide on what changes to be made, have Mark make them, and then move on to the next level. Would that work for everyone? Mark, I assume you would be making the actual map changes?
