In Response To: Re: A little assistance with.. (the Battle Cat)

: You mean the midi music in Marathon 1 sounds like Pfhor farts blown through a
: kazoo because the QuickTime instruments have changed since the days of the
: first Marathon? Somewhere there is a quicktime patch that restores your
: instruments to the ones Marathon used. I can't remember the name of it...
: some old timer here should remember. A search of the archives using
: "MIDI" and "QuickTime" doesn't find it. I never used
: it myself but I remember hearing about it years ago at
: alt.games.marathon...

You can find a patcher on the Marathon Music section of the Story page. Scrowl down to the bottom.

Dan Munter also created an M1 music file, with the replaced instruments to make it qt3-compatible. It's also on the Marathon music section about three quarters of the way down.

The FAQ section has the old Quicktime 2.5 files so you can still listen to the original Marathon as it was meant to be heard. Use with caution though.

Cheers
Hamish

I can hear music...
