if you cammand and click inf forge your set the center of the map. athis good for moving the map if you recenter it and if you enter visual mode you will start on that point unless it is outside a poly or on a line. I don't know how many noobs know this, but is real time saver. This is the only "trick' I know that is not posted somewhere on hte web.
