In Response To: Note on Thoth (Mundi)

: I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, so if it has, my apologies. I
: thought it would be appropriate if Thoth's name was a palindrome, since
: he's supposed to be equality and all that. If you count "th" as
: a single letter, as it was sometimes in ancient Norse language, it is a
: palindrome ("th" "o" "th") with THREE
: letters. Or, if you make it a palindrome in English by changing it to
: "Thoht", it sounds like "Thought". SEVEN letters. Very
: distant connections, but who knows how meniacle Bungie really is in all of
: their horrible knowledge.

I don't think Bungie's the one being maniacal here.

I may be going out on a limb here, but I tend to subscribe to the school of thought that advocates the the fact that the word "Thoth" has five letters in it. It's guess it is easier to see things that aren't there when you rearrange the words and adhere to mathematics such as 5 = 3.

And Thoth isn't Norse:

-----
Thoth

\Thoth\, n. 1. (Myth.) The god of eloquence and letters among the ancient Egyptians, and supposed to be the inventor of writing and philosophy. He corresponded to the Mercury of the Romans, and was usually represented as a human figure with the head of an ibis or a lamb.

Check this out:

Marathon: 3 vowels
Leela: 3 vowels
Durandal: 3 vowels
Marine: 3 vowels

Coincidence?

YES!

If you go looking for 3's and 7's wherever they were placed in the Marathon Trilogy intentionally or otherwise you will come up with a lot. If you go looking through the Marathon trilogy looking for and see 3's and 7's where they are not, you will come up with even more.

I'm not trying to be a jerk here, but this is riduiculous; come one guys, this bone is picked dry...
