There have been at least two outbreaks in ancient history. With 343 GS saying "after the last catastrophic outbreak" there must have been other outbreaks otherwise he would not have to qualify his words with "last". When Halo was built, however, is still not proven in regards to Flood outbreaks. It could have been built before even the first outbreak since all we know is that 343 GS tells us that the installation was built to study and contain the Flood. Notice there is no mention of when it was built. I'm pretty sure that Halo was built during or before the last catastrophic outbreak because 343 GS noted that samples were kept on the installation AFTER the last catastrophic outbreak. There is no reason for him to mention that unless it was unusual or strange that samples were kept there. I take this to mean that Halo had already fired (the last Reclaimer had done his duty and at least part of this galaxy was devoid of life) and afterwards the Reclaimer, 343 GS or some other Forerunner decided to gather some samples of the Flood and put them on Installation 04 (Halo). : and what if it was just luck that the halo MC and cortana visted contained
Not luck at all, they followed Captain Keyes who was looking for a weapons cache (where the Flood were). This could have all been a trick by 343 GS or the Covenant or the Flood. : What i'm getting to is that the halos was actually built as a massive
Yes and no, we know that Installation 04 was built to contain the Flood and it acts to kill off all life of sufficient biomass in a 25,000 LY range. We do not know the purpose of other Halos as of yet. They may have a similar weapon, but who is to say that they will "follow suit" and fire as 343 GS explained. : But then we get to the strange part of why the entire galaxy and why can't it
Neutron, gamma radiation, graviton wave, they all can do the job, but the weapon might actually not do any of this. The weapon could make suns go supernova. The point is that we know squat about the weapon and it could be a by-product of the weapon that does the killing of life. For instance a supernova can emit high levels of gamma radiation that can kill or mutate life on planets in the nearby solar systems. So creating a supernova in one area can still irradiate planets in other solar systems that aren't inside of it. : So here's the scenero: Forerunner encounter's flood...... massive battle
